Wow M+ Recommended Addons
Looking through all my addons (which are numerous), the ones I make the most use of are:. completely alters the default UI. It has a sleek, black look to it, gives you a square minimap, and is full of things to customize. You can have it set up any way you want, and it lets you move everything around. If you want your action bars at the top of the screen, you can put them there. lets you keep up with everything about all your alts, across all servers (and even accounts I think). Even lets you know if you have mail about to expire on an alt.
makes for easy posting and purchasing on the Auction House. Extremely useful, and much easier to use than Auctioneer, which is another AH addon that has a bit more detail. combines all your bags into one large bag. Extremely handy! It also will work for your bank, guild bank, and void storage (each of these can be turned off if you wish though). gives you nice tips while doing boss encounters.

Things like 'Move out of this shit' or 'Interrupt this', and it's extremely useful. If you plan on doing dungeons, or raiding, this addon is a must. adds a few changes to your map. You can change the size of it, and lets you disable fog of war (which is what keeps you from seeing unexplored areas on your map) or even set it to a transparent color so you know what you haven't explored yet. adds scrolling combat text to your screen, which lets you see what your doing damage for, or healing for, and also lets you see what the mob is doing to you. You can change the fonts so that there is a different one for crits also.
a mail addon that will let you open all mail at once automatically, or just the ones you select. It also has lists of characters that you can mail; all your alts on that realm, your guild mates, and friends that you tell the addon to remember.
Note that you cannot send mass mail to all guild mates at once with this addon. a DPS meter that will keep track of how much damage you've done, and what your dps is. Don't let that fool you though, it also tracks healing done, damage taken, absorbs, overhealing done, all kinds of things.
It is very useful for analyzing your playstyle.I think that's it for my most used addons. There are more I use, but they are mainly for aspects of the game that you likely won't care about as much until you've gotten the basics down. Just ask if you want help with any of those, or need more suggestions/help!:)Ninja Edit: Most of those addons (all except ElvUI) are links from Curse. You can download a client onto your computer which will let you download new addons, keep track of which ones need updates, and will even update them for you, all from the client. This client can be found. This is a fairly good list.
Some things to note though.ElvUI is a huge change, some find it too drastic. I use around 100 addons for various things and even I find it a bit drastic. An auction house addon is a huge help. Auctioneer is a good alternative, and if you are serious about playing the auction house game then there is TSM.Deadly Boss Mobs aka DBM is popular, but a lot of people prefer Big Wigs.
If you ever do any LFR or end raiding, then you MUST use either of these. I'm surprised that Blizzard hasn't just gone an implemented these directly into the game.Recount is good, Skada is another alternative. Similar, it just depends which options and features you like with both. DPS meters though are pretty important to understand how good you are as a player in certain situations. Popular.- cooldown management. Countdown on icon to let you know when ability is ready again.- threat meter (although this has been giving me some trouble lately so I may have to find a replacement).- mail. Can retrieve multiple pages of mail.
You can check boxes of which pieces you want as well (even between pages). Etc.(DBM) OR - helps with boss fights by telling you when to move, showing countdown timers on boss abilities, etc. You only need ONE of these addons.
DBM seems to be more commonly used, but I hear BigWigs is more configurable.OR OR - meters to track dps/healing/damage taken/etc. You only need ONE of these addons. I use skada because it requires less processing power and memory than Recount. TinyDPS attempts to distinguish itself by using even less memory and processing power (I assume).my less popular favorites.- choose which addons you want per profile.
Can enable/disable them with a /reload.- repair any time you talk to an NPC that can do it. Can be configured to use guild funds.- automatically vendor trash or auto-discard (apparently can do this as well. I found it more work to configure though.).- searcahble vendor interface, with ability to buy stacks much easier.- chat anti-spam and crap filter.- manages the minbuttons that appear around your minimap as you install more and more addons.- shows you whether same-faction or opposite-faction players are near you. You can also add names to a list to get a sound notification when they are near. Keeps track of prior world pvp kill/death sites as well.- shows the enemy target's percent health (helpful for execute range) while leaving the health numbers untouched. (I have to double check this one.
Someone this is default UI now.).- tells you if you have done Nalak, Ooondasta, Sha of Anger, etc. For the week.- shows potential gear when a boss dies, so you can decide to use your bonus roll or not. (inspired by ).
Admittedly, this is the one addon on this list I have not yet tried.- Suppresses bugs from popping up in your face all the time. It makes a sound and you can review the error log when you feel appropriate (if ever) safely while out of combat.- Shows you trade chat even when you are not in a main city. Useful for finding when realm world boss groups are forming, LFM groups, arenas for points, etc.- Shows which LFR you have done already by adding a tab to the right of the raid finder. Invaluable if you are still doing these bosses for the legendary questline (titan runestones, secrets of the empire, etc).- a fun little addon that congratulates you audibly when you gain a level by playing the voice from from Zul'Gurub (level 85 dungeon).fix Blizzard's bugs for them.PVP addons.see also: prior threads on the subject.
Some kind of DPS meter is typically helpful, Skada and Recount are both good.An addon like Bartender that allows you to re-arrange your Action Bars is also very helpful. Some other ones I recommend:.Bagnon - consolidates all your bags into one large bag, keeps track of your bank inventory so you can check it from anywhere, allows you to 'search' your bags.DeadlyBossMods or BigWigs - Highly recommend/required for raiding. Helps you keep track of boss ability cooldowns and such.Open Queue - Allows you to join and find cross-realm groups for questing, PVP, Flex raiding, etc. Makes PUGing WAY easier.
Depends what you need. Here's the ones I use, just to give you an idea. I play a tank (Prot Pally):. ElvUI - Replaces the current blizzard UI. Much cleaner look and handles multiple action bars better than the default. Recount - Damage meters.
Omen - Threat meters. Tradeskillmaster - For scanning the auction house, and automation of my auctions (Used to use Auctioneer which is a lot easier to work with). Bagnon - Combines all your bags into one big bag. Postal - Opens up all my mail at once, rather than manually doing them one at a time. DBM - (Deadly boss mods) - For timers and warnings during boss fights. Atlasloot - Shows all loot and craftables in the game. Good to know what bosses you want to use your rerolls on.
WeakAuras - To track my buffs and active mitigation. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. But I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions.
