Ie8 at times runs slow. Web pages are slow to load and react. Pages often freeze. When this happens the cpu is maxed out with iexporer.exe at the top of the list. I'm running XP SP3 with mcafee antivirus. I've tried a laptop also with XP and IE8 on my router and that was fine so the internet connecion is OK.

I've run all the usual virus scans and malware scans. The strange thing is some days its fine and other days its terrible.

I suspect its either a windows update or mcafee update that's torpedoed IE8. I've surfed the net and found people with the same problem but no one definative answer. Some suggest uninstalling and reinstalling.

I've also another issue that might be related and its that its a long time after booting before the computer is usable. Again the cpu is maxed out with services.exe as the cause. After about 10 mins it settles down. I would be grateful for any suggestions.andrew. Run a malware scan with Malwarebytes. If you are still having issues running rkill then try downloading these renamed versions of the same program. But DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes.
